To Whom It May Concern,
It is with a heavy heart that I formally convey my resignation from my esteemed positions as Managing Director, Chief Functionary, and CEO of JanMitra Nyas, effective from March 22, 2024. This decision is primarily driven by health concerns. My unwavering dedication since 1999 has significantly propelled our mission to champion the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and embody the core principles of the Indian Constitution, thereby cultivating a proactive and vibrant Bharat.
Regrettably, my capacity to fulfill these responsibilities was notably impacted following my brave battle with COVID-19 in 2022, which entailed a 12-day stay in the ICU and subsequent health complications. Despite these challenges, I continued to lead our organization with resilience and courage.
Our association has navigated through inquiries initiated by the Government of Pakistan concerning our bid for special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, an achievement we secured in 2022 amidst my courageous campaigns against human rights abuses in South Asia. My leadership has been instrumental in these endeavors.
As I transition to my new role as Advisor and Founder-Convenor of PVCHR, I would like to share that this is my final report to you. The Board of Trustees has also approved for me to lead all international projects, including GHAI and IRCT etc. The Annual Report for 2023-2024 is available at Annual Report 2023-2024. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Ms. Shirin Shabana Khan, Director of Programs and Organization of JanMitra Nyas, for her significant contributions in making this report possible.
New Initiative: The Kashi Foundation for Pluralistic Democracy
I am excited to inform you about our new initiative, The Kashi Foundation for Pluralistic Democracy. This foundation integrates indigenous wisdom with critical thinking to foster a more inclusive and holistic form of democracy. It combines the rich values, ethics, and communal practices of indigenous cultures with modern critical thinking methodologies to create a dynamic and robust democratic framework.
Indigenous wisdom offers a profound respect for diversity, community interdependence, and harmony with nature, which have sustained societies for centuries. The Kashi Foundation ensures these principles are central to our democratic processes, giving voice and importance to indigenous wisdom for diversity, compassion, and non-violence. Simultaneously, critical thinking provides rigorous analysis, logical reasoning, and evidence-based decision-making, promoting open-mindedness and intellectual growth. This synergy creates a model for pluralistic democracy that respects diverse perspectives and fosters innovation and forward-thinking.
Our foundation illustrates that globalization can be deeply rooted in cultural heritage while embracing progressive values. By blending tradition and modernity, the Kashi Foundation aims to demonstrate how indigenous knowledge and critical thinking can together address complex modern challenges.
