Few steps against culture of silence and taboo related to mensuration


Quiz contest on menstruation process:
Quiz competition is away to break culture of silence and taboos related to mensuration. Organizer asked questions and girls gave answers. Organizers provided Sanitary Napkins as a gift on rights answers. It is very useful and impactful to inculcate information and break silence related to mensuration.
Snake ladder game in adolescence fair:
Snake ladder game focuses on sexual harassment and violence, both the games were played under the experts. Activists paused during the game and talked about the various topics such as ways to stop sexual harassment, related several government schemes like helpline numbers etc. Two girls played game. Other watched and participated in discussion. It is very intensive process to inculcate knowledge about sexual violence, gender injustice and ways to fight back.
Likewise, in the second phase of game, there was a discussion about the causes, impacts and prevention of malnutrition and hunger.
Other than quiz competition, PVCHR provided 173 sanitary pads to girls from most marginalized communities. It is a way to change attitude and practices related to use of sanitary pads in place of dirty cloths. Ms. Parul Sharma, a famous social worker of Sweden joined a meeting in Anei Musahar ghetto of Varanasi and she shared on her facebook ,”Shruti Nagvanshi from our partner organisation PVCHR explains the importance of hygienic behaviour during menstruation! She talks about dangers for women in using dirty cloth and why it is important to use sanitary napkins. Shruti Nagvanshi further explained that something so natural must not be treated as unnatural. Ms. Shruti asked teenage girls to ask their parents to buy sanitary napkins for them every month. 50 rupees per month is the cost. PVCHR distributed sanitary napkins to all the teen age girls! “
