On the Path to Justice: A Family's Struggle

Numerous organizations across India are steadfastly dedicated to safeguarding human rights and ensuring equitable justice for all. One such eminent institution is the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), tirelessly committed to aiding the broader society in attaining justice.

Our focus shifts to a distressing incident that unfolded in a local enclave of Kashipur, Uttarakhand. Prompted by a complaint, the NHRC initiated an investigation into the matter, centered around the tragic demise of a young man employed in a stone crusher in Kashipur. The local community resonated deeply with this incident, clamoring for justice, thus instigating this case.

The proceedings were set in motion by stakeholders from Uttar Pradesh. Notably, Lenin Raghuvanshi emerged as a pivotal complainant, vowing to see the case through to its resolution. His unwavering dedication mirrors the collective resolve to uphold the rights of every individual to justice, especially in dire circumstances.

In response to this unfolding tragedy, the NHRC issued significant directives for action, implicating several government officials. Furthermore, financial aid was extended to the affected family, potentially facilitating their path to recovery and reunion.

With the wheels of investigation set in motion, the NHRC has also taken proactive steps to address logistical hurdles, ensuring an unhindered pursuit of justice for both the affected families and the accused parties.

Although the journey regarding this incident remains ongoing, the NHRC's proactive involvement in investigation and action signifies a substantial stride towards justice.

PVCHR's Appeal for Justice: Response to Amar Ujala's Coverage

Upon encountering a poignant news article in Amar Ujala, PVCHR (People's Vigilance Committee on Human Rights) swiftly lodged a formal complaint with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in New Delhi on February 5, 2024. The news story shed light on the plight of a victimized family, compelling PVCHR to advocate fervently for justice.

Acknowledging the urgency of the matter, the NHRC promptly registered it under Case Number 59/35/7/2024. In a commendable gesture, the owner of the stone crusher implicated in the incident extended financial assistance of 11 lakh rupees to the affected family, offering them a semblance of solace amidst their profound loss.

Crucial information regarding the case was gleaned from PVCHR's headquarters via contact number 9935599331.

PVCHR's proactive stance underscores its unwavering commitment to championing human rights and amplifying the voices of the marginalized.

The ongoing proceedings are a continuation of the Commission's prior endeavors. In response to the HRD's complaint regarding the laborer's tragic demise at Sai Stone Crusher, Swar area, Kashipur, Uttarakhand, the Commission swiftly took cognizance on February 14, 2024. Subsequently, directives were issued to the Labor Commissioner, Uttarakhand, Nainital, and the SSP, Nainital, Uttarakhand, soliciting an Action Taken Report within four weeks.

However, in a subsequent report dated March 16, 2024, from the DGP, Uttarakhand's office, it was elucidated that the matter falls under PS Swar, District Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. Hence, it was deemed appropriate to conduct the investigation in District Rampur, Uttar Pradesh.

Consequently, the Commission has directed the transmission of the complaint to the Labor Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh, and the SSP, Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. These authorities are mandated to probe the allegations and furnish an Action Taken Report within four weeks for the Commission's scrutiny.
