Statement from PVCHR on Operation Sindoor and the Path to Peace

The People's Vigilance Committee on Human Rights (PVCHR) acknowledges the Indian Army’s exceptional restraint, professionalism, and moral clarity in its recent counter-terrorism operation, codenamed Operation Sindoor. In response to the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Indian Army has undertaken a precise and proportionate action, targeting only terror infrastructure located in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

According to official sources, nine terror bases were neutralized with surgical accuracy, avoiding any provocation or harm to Pakistani military installations. This affirms India's unwavering commitment to the principle that our battle is not with Pakistan or its armed forces, but solely against terrorism.

As clearly articulated by the Indian Army:

“Our operation was focused, proportionate, and non-provocative. At no point were Pakistani military installations targeted. India has exercised extraordinary restraint in the selection and execution of these strikes.”

PVCHR considers this approach not only laudable but strategically sound. It upholds both national dignity and international norms.

However, we now face another insidious challenge — the spread of misinformation and disinformation. In such sensitive times, false narratives, edited videos, and inflammatory content can fuel division and incite hatred. We urge all citizens to exercise discernment, verify facts, and reject all attempts at provocation. Let us uphold unity and truth in the face of manipulation.

This is also a crucial moment for introspection and responsibility on all sides. We sincerely hope the Government of Pakistan will understand the message behind India's restrained yet firm response and take concrete steps to bring to justice those responsible for the killing of Indian citizens. Escalation benefits no one; peace is in the true interest of both nations and their people.

As we reflect on our shared future, we are reminded of the timeless wisdom:

अयं निजः परो वेति गणना लघुचेतसाम्।
उदारचरितानां तु वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्॥
“This is mine, that is someone else’s — such is the thinking of the narrow-minded. For the noble-hearted, the entire world is one family.”

The teachings of the Buddha remind us that hatred cannot be conquered by hatred — it is only through love and compassion that peace can prevail. We call upon all to embrace the path of reconciliation, justice, and shared humanity.

Jai Hind.
In solidarity for peace and justice,
People’s Vigilance Committee on Human Rights (PVCHR)
