Child right day celebration

On Child Right day:20th November, 09 children from several Bal Panchayat gathered to celebrate International Child Rights Day at Paradkar Smriti Bhawan, Maidagin. It was organized with the joint collaboration of Munshi Prem Chandra Bal Panchayat – Bagwanala, Sant. Kabir Bal Panchayat – Belwa, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bal Panchayat – Shivrampur, Sahid Bhagat Singh Bal Panchayat – Sarai Mohana and Sant Ravidas Bal Panchayat – Ayer in the care of Peoples’ Vigilance Committee on Human Rights (PVCHR)/Jan Mitra Nyas (JMN), Varanasi.

The children echo their voice for the right through speech, songs and drama and also shared their local problem to each other. India after 20 years being signatory of United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), but the graph of child harassment has increased today. They are engaged as labour, bonded labour and even promotion of the sale of the children. Children are not getting right to freedom of expression in community as well as in home and their impart information is being ignored due child.

The malnutrition of children, no proper assessment of education to all children of village and city shows the apathy of the Government for the health & education rights. “We are celebrating 20 years of the convention but distress is even elder are not aware about this” says Chanda, moderator of the program.

Manish shares on right to live says, “Every children should have right to live (right to birth) what the convention do when the girl child are aborted after sonography? This is not the violation of their right.

Kishan share the problem, “our development is being hindered due to unavailability of school in his ghetto. Many other children Jyoti, Sulekha, Gunja, Kanjan, Puja, Neha, Anjum Bano, Shama Parveen etc shared their view on the four right of child i.e. Right to Participation, Right to Survival, Right to Development and Right to Protection.

Children enhance the communal harmony and oppose Bazardiha police firing and encroachment in Dharkar Basti, Hukulganj. Children pledge for the continuation of the struggle until the child right being implemented at grass root level and in the forth coming election they will try to include in the election manifesto.
