GANGA HO YAA GAANGI

-        A Multi-Media Stage Presentation on Rivers and Women

Synopsis

Gaangi a village girl members comes to the ghats of Varanasi to have a holy dip in the river so as to fulfill a promise made by her late mother. She and the entire family watch the Arati and the cultural programmes in honour of mother Ganga. But in the cover of the dark night Gaangi was assaulted by a group of unidentified men. All the more the police harass the already broken family. Gaangi dies in a hospital. Meanwhile a sadhu challenges the male community and points to the various ways by which the men of the patriarchal society ill treats the holy river and women forgetting their fundamental duty of protection of natural resources and women.  With the arrival of Gangi’s dead body form the hospital, the entire situation becomes full of pathos and in that most melancholic atmosphere the sadhuji provokes people to stop polluting river Ganga and to take proactive steps to give dignity to women who are still around us asking for dignity and freedom.

The Objective of the Play Gangaa Ho Yaa Gaangee:

Kashi, one of the oldest living cities of the world is situated on the bank of renowned and holy river Ganga. Rivers have been the basis for the culture and civilization of any country. Ganga is the heartline of India. Ganga and other rivers are highly polluted because of the human selfishness and the selfish attitude towards river as a commercial thing to be exploited. This is very very true of Kashi too. The people of Kashi and the administration need to change their attitude towards river.

While the rivers are being exploited, atrocities against women are increasing day by day all over North India , esp. in areas where patriarchal and feudal system is deeply rooted. Molestation, rape and gang rape have become too common. The situation is os bad that we are getting saturated with so much of media reports that we are losing our sensitivity towards these tragic events,

Male dominant society is using water and woman for his selfish and vested interest.  The evil consequences of this patriarchal and exploitative mindset and behavior towards women and rivers force us to initiate a new movement for the dignity of women and natural resources. . The campaign challenges men to change their attitudes and behavioral pattern. It also challenges the women to speak up boldly and take initiative to come forward to break this system.

नारी और नदी की रक्षा के लिए एक विशेष हिंदी नाट्य प्रस्तुति 

अवधि: 50 मिनट

सम्पूर्ण विश्व की सभ्यतायें और संस्कृतियाँ नदियों के किनारे ही विकसित हुई है| गंगा भारत देश की जीवन रेखा कही जाती है| स्वार्थी मानव ने गंगा और अन्य नदियों का दोहन और शोषण किया है| 

उसी तरह नारी जिसे समाज की आधी आबादी कहते हैं, उस नारी को स्वार्थी पुरुष अपने हवस का शिकार बनाता आ रहा है| नदी और नारी, या नीर और नारी के प्रति पुरुष प्रधान समाज के शोषणकारी रवैया और सोच के खिलाफ एक आन्दोलन है गंगा हो या गांगी| 

कथासार:

काशी में गंगा स्नान हेतु एक साधारण परिवार गंगा किनारे, घाट पर एक शाम को पहुँच जाता है| उन्हें अगले दिन भोर में गंगा स्नान करना है| वे बड़ी ख़ुशी से गंगा आरती में भाग लेते हैं और स्वयं भी गंगा की स्तुति गाते हैं| रात के अँधेरे में उस परिवार की एक किशोरी के साथ कुछ अनजान लोग दुष्कर्म करते हैं| उसे लेकर पीड़ित परिवार अस्पताल जाते हैं| जिन्हें समाज के रक्षक का काम करना चाहिए वे भी उन पीड़ितों की मदद करने के बदले उन्हें तंग करते हैं| लेकिन एक साधू उन लोगों को पुरुष प्रधान समाज के स्वार्थ और गन्दी राजनीति समझने केलिए उन्हें चुनौती देते हैं | नारी की महिमा और नदी की रक्षा करने की उस चुनौती को वे स्वीकार करते हैं| 

अत्यंत मनोरंजन, नृत्य संगीत और आकर्षक दृश्यों से भरपूर नाटक जो दर्शक के मन में समाज के लिए  कुछ करने को मजबूर करता है|
